FAQ
If I don’t live in Maine, can you work with me?
I’m licensed in Maine and New Hampshire as a Registered Dietitian to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy. A handful of states don’t require licensure to practice, but most do. As a result, I only offer Nutrition Counseling to Maine and New Hampshire residents and to those in a handful of other states.
As a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, I’m not bound by licensure. When I’m a coach for Intuitive Eating, I take off my dietitian hat and wear my Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor hat.
How is Intuitive Eating Coaching different from Nutrition Counseling?
The coaching is focused only on Intuitive Eating, and doesn’t include Medical Nutrition Therapy (nutrition counseling for management of disease). Nutrition Counseling utilizes Intuitive Eating as appropriate to address the nutrition-related medical concern.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. I’m in-network with Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, Community Health Options, Harvard Pilgrim and UnitedHealth.
Does health insurance usually cover nutrition counseling?
Some plans have a deductible that needs to be met before covering benefits for Nutrition Counseling, while others will pay for sessions at 100%, no deductible and no copay required. Your plan may also have coinsurance.
What if I don’t have health insurance?
I offer a Prompt Pay Discount (30%) off my regular fees. Payment is due at time of service, before the session begins.
What if my insurance benefits don’t cover Nutrition Counseling?
If your plan has NO BENEFITS for Nutrition Counseling, the Prompt Pay Discount (30%) will apply. Payment is due at time of service, before the session begins.
