Nutrition Counseling

What to expect

Nutrition counseling can enhance your nutrition quality of life.  During the initial consultation, we’ll get acquainted and review your nutrition history in detail.  You’ll share your food story along with how and why you desire any changes.  Based on this information, we’ll develop a sustainable plan to best meet your needs.

Note: Medical nutrition therapy will include intuitive eating as therapeutically appropriate.

Payment

Insurance:  Claims will be submitted directly to insurance if nutrition counseling is a covered benefit under your plan. Be sure to complete intake forms in a timely manner.

Please check with your insurance to see if nutrition counseling (or medical nutrition therapy) is covered under your benefits. Be sure to ask what limitations apply, including if coverage is dependent on diagnosis, referral requirements, number of visits allowed, co-pay amount, and whether visits are applied to your deductible.

I’m an in-network provider with the following insurers:

  • Anthem
  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare
  • United Healthcare

Paying Out of Pocket:  If your insurance plan doesn’t provide benefits for nutrition counseling, you may qualify for a 30% Prompt Payment Discount. A Good Faith Estimate is available upon request – please send an email request using this link or call Mainely Nutrition.

All major credit cards, HSA and FSA cards, cash or check are accepted.  Superbills are provided upon request.

Office Visits vs. Virtual Appointments

All appointment are conducted via private video office at this time.  If your insurance plan provides benefits for in-office nutrition counseling, you will also have coverage for virtual visits.  Prior to calling insurance to inquire about benefits, a ‘script’ can be provided to help gather relevant information.

Licensure

As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I’m licensed by the State of Maine Board of Licensing of Dietetic Practice to provide nutrition counseling for management of medical conditions.  This license is renewed annually.

I am able to offer nutrition counseling to those living in other states that do not require a professional license.  If interested, please reach out!
